Visa Applications and Credibility Interviews
To study at the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre, you will need a Student visa (previously known as a Tier 4 visa).
Will I Be Eligible for a Student Visa?
There are four key requirements for those wishing to study in the UK:
- You must have been offered a place on a course.
- You must have received a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from our Admissions team.
- You must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- You must have sufficient funds to support yourself and pay for your course.
What is a CAS and Why is it Important?
A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a unique reference number that confirms your acceptance onto a course in the UK. You need a CAS number to apply for a Student visa.
If you are outside the UK, you can receive your CAS up to 6 months before your course start date, and if you're in the UK, you can receive it up to 3 months before the start date.
When Should I Apply for a Visa?
It’s important to apply early to ensure you allow enough time for your visa application to be processed.
The Visa Process
To apply for your visa, follow these steps:
- Apply for your chosen programme at the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre and receive an offer.
- Submit the required documents to be reviewed by the Admissions team or your Student Enrolment Advisor.
- Pay your deposit and CAS payment.
- Once your payment is received, your CAS will be issued, enabling you to apply for your visa.
- You may be invited to attend a credibility interview.
- UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) will contact you with the outcome of your visa application.
Integrated CAS (iCAS) for Integrated Programmes
Students applying for one of our integrated programmes will receive an Integrated CAS (iCAS), which includes visa sponsorship from the University for the entire duration of the programme. This means you will only need to apply for one visa to study in the UK, saving both time and money, as you won’t need to apply for a new visa when progressing to your degree course.
Please note that the International Foundation Year programme is offered on a Study Group CAS.
