Every country has its customs and practices, and Lithuania is no exception. Here are some helpful tips to ensure you fit in:

DO:

• When on a date, bring an odd number of flowers, as even numbers are only appropriate for funerals.
• Always validate your bus ticket. Conductors are strict about this.
• If you receive good service, tip at least 10% of the total bill.
• Be punctual! Lithuanians value each other's time, and being on time is highly encouraged.

DON’T:

• Do not consume alcohol in public places such as parks or squares. It’s prohibited by law.
• Don’t litter in public spaces; fines are enforced.
• Avoid kissing someone when greeting them unless you know them well. A handshake is the customary greeting.
• Don’t hail a taxi on the street. For a lower fare, always book a taxi by phone or through an online app.

Most dormitories have been renovated and come equipped with modern amenities, including internet access.

What to Expect from Campus Living:

• You will likely share a room with one or two other students.
• Showers and baths are typically shared between two or more rooms.
• Your room will be furnished with essentials like a bed, wardrobe, table, and chairs.
• Internet access may be available in individual rooms, but it is often not included in the price.
• Shared kitchens on each floor allow you to prepare meals with other students.
• Overnight guests are not allowed in the dormitories, and visitors must register their ID upon entering.
• Quiet hours are generally enforced from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. to maintain a peaceful environment.
• The consumption of alcohol and/or psychoactive substances is prohibited by law, and smoking is restricted to designated areas.
