Chinese Government Scholarship Program 2025-26
 The deadline for submitting online applications is Monday, December 9, 2024.
 To be considered for the Chinese Government Scholarship Program 2025-26, applicants must have a valid HAT score (obtained on or after December 9, 2022) or a valid USAT score (obtained on or after December 9, 2023). A valid score must be submitted on the HEC portal during the application process for eligibility. To apply online through the China Scholarship Council’s portal under category A (agency No. 5861), please visit [Campuschina.org](https://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua). In an effort to enhance educational cooperation between China and Pakistan, the Chinese Scholarship Council, under the Government of China, is offering scholarships for Pakistani students and scholars to study and conduct research at Chinese universities. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan serves as the nominating agency for these scholarships for the academic year 2025-26. The China Scholarship Council (CSC), authorized by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, oversees the enrollment and administration of the Chinese Government Scholarship Program. Eligible applicants can apply for scholarships for Undergraduate/Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral/PhD programs in their respective fields of study.

Program Offered

The Chinese Government Scholarship Program provides sponsorship for international students, teachers, and scholars to pursue degree studies (Undergraduate, Master's, and PhD), including a one-year preparatory Chinese language study for certain degree programs.








Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be citizens of Pakistan or Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K). Dual nationality holders are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be in good health.
  • Applicants with incomplete degrees as of the application deadline are not eligible.
  • For the Undergraduate/Bachelor's program, applicants must have completed intermediate, A-levels, or FA/FSC (12 years of education) and must be under 25 years of age at the time of application.
  • For the Master's program, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree (16 years of education) and must be under 35 years of age at the time of application.
  • For the PhD/Doctoral program, applicants must hold a Master's degree (MS/MPhil) and must be under 40 years of age at the time of application.
  • Applicants must meet the application requirements as outlined on the China Scholarship Council website and portal.
  • Applicants must satisfy the admission requirements of the applied universities, including academic qualifications, language proficiency, and any other relevant criteria.
  • Applicants must not be receiving any other type of scholarship at the time of application.
  • All applicants are required to submit a valid HAT or USAT score (HAT for Master's/PhD and USAT for Undergraduate). A minimum score of 50 out of 100 in the HAT or USAT test is required. Applications without this minimum score will not be considered. The validity of the HAT test is two years, and the validity of the USAT test is one year. For this scholarship, applicants must have a valid HAT score (obtained on or after December 9, 2022) or a USAT score (obtained on or after December 9, 2023).

Financial Coverage

  • Tuition Fees: Tuition funds will be fully managed by the host university, covering education, administrative costs, health insurance, and student activity expenses.

  • Accommodation: Each awardee will receive either free accommodation in a university dormitory or an accommodation subsidy.

  • Stipend: The stipend will be provided according to the China Government Scholarship policy.

  • Travel Expenses: Travel costs will be the responsibility of the scholarship recipients. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will not bear any financial responsibility for travel expenses.

How to Apply

  • All information provided in the online application and attached documents must be complete, accurate, and truthful.

  • Apply online at HEC Scholarship Portal. After registering and completing your profile, select "Learning Opportunities Abroad." Once you have submitted your application, print a copy and have it signed by the applicant. The HEC online application portal will close on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 04:00 PM (Pakistan Standard Time).

  • Before applying, ensure that your HEC profile is updated with your latest email, phone number, and other relevant information. It is advised to complete and submit your application early, as the portal may experience heavy traffic as the deadline approaches. After successful submission on the HEC portal, retain the printed and signed copy of the application form.

  • Submit your online application at the CSC web portal at CampusChina or China Scholarship Council, selecting Program Type A and Agency No. 5861. Download and print the submitted application form from the CSC portal and retain a signed copy for your records.

  • For additional instructions regarding the Chinese Government Scholarship program, download the guidelines and complete the online application form on the CSC portal.

  • Submission of applications on both the HEC and CSC portals is mandatory. Applications will not be considered if not submitted on either portal.

  • Note: Hard copies of applications are not required at this stage. Handwritten or incomplete applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Required Documents

At this stage of the application process, prospective applicants are not required to submit any hard copies of documents to HEC. Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit the following documents in English or Chinese. If any document is in a language other than English or Chinese, it must be accompanied by a notarized translation in both languages. To avoid delays, applicants should prepare their application dossier according to the following requirements: (Chinese Government Scholarship Application.docx​).

  • Signed Application Forms:

    • A signed copy of the HEC application form, submitted separately in spiral binding (no other documents should be attached to this form).
    • A signed copy of the CSC application form along with the following documents.
  • Educational Documents:

    • Attested copies of all educational certificates.
    • One photocopy of CNIC/B-form, domicile, IBCC equivalency certificate (if applicable), and HEC equivalency certificate (if applicable).
  • Study Plan/Research Proposal:

    • A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English (minimum of 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for postgraduates).
    • Language proficiency certificate or IELTS/TOEFL/HSK score (where applicable).
  • Passport:

    • A copy of your ordinary passport with validity until March 1, 2026 (first two pages).
  • Physical Examination Record:

    • A photocopy of the Physical Examination Record for foreigners, completed in English (the original should be kept by the applicant).
    • The physical examination must cover all items listed in the Physical Examination Record, including basic blood test reports, as required by China Government policy.
    • The form must include the attending physician’s signature, the official hospital stamp, and a sealed photograph of the applicant. The result is valid for only six months.
  • Non-criminal Record:

    • A Police Clearance Certificate (not older than six months from the application deadline).
  • Pre-admission Letter (Optional):

    • Applicants for Master's or PhD programs may apply for a pre-admission letter from the target university. While optional, having a pre-admission letter may enhance the chances of receiving the scholarship. HEC/CSC cannot guarantee university enrollment without this notice.
  • Letters of Recommendation (Graduate Programs):

    • Applicants for graduate programs (Master's/PhD) must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC):

    • If employed, applicants must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.
  • Guardianship Documents:

    • Applicants under the age of 18 must submit valid guardianship documents from their legal guardians in China.

Additional Instructions:

  • Ensure that your email, phone number, and postal address are correctly filled in the application system. These are crucial for communication during the application process. Failure to respond in a timely manner may lead to automatic rejection.
  • Submit clear, authentic, and valid scanned copies of all required documents on both the HEC and CSC portals. Applicants are responsible for any consequences caused by unclear or improperly uploaded documents.
  • Providing false information at any stage will result in the cancellation of the application and disqualification from future scholarships. HEC reserves the right to impose penalties as determined.
  • Apply online on the HEC portal at www.scholarship.hec.gov.pk before the deadline: Monday, December 9, 2024. DO NOT send hard copies of the application forms or any other documents to HEC at this stage.
  • To submit your online application on the China Scholarship Council's portal under Category A (Agency No. 5861), please visit Campuschina.org or https://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua.
  • Incomplete or saved applications on the HEC or CSC portals, or applications submitted by hand, will not be considered.
